A Kentucky reptile store owner is recovering after police remove a 125-pound python that was slowly crushing him to death.
Newport police officers said that the owner, Terry Wilkens, fed the snake Monday when suddenly the 20-foot python attacked him. Police said Wilkens wasn’t breathing when officers tried to free him, but was revived and taken to a hospital.
Police say Collins appears to be improving and he’s even talking. Collins says one of the two responding officers knew to uncurl the snake by grabbing it from its head, and thats what saved Collins in the end. Police were working with animal control to determine if the python would need to be removed from the shop.
